Kelvin is part of International House Darwin’s (IHD) Resident Leader (RL) team.
He’s been an RL for the last 2 years, and you’ll often find him hosting the sporting events.
Kelvin is originally from Vietnam and has been living at IHD since 2021, He’s expected to graduate this semester and complete his Bachelor of Secondary Education.

One of the perks of staying at IHD is the event program that is carefully curated by our Resident Engagement Officer. These events are managed by the RL’s and offer residents an opportunity to make friends within the community.
Kelvin suggests residents should make the most of events hosted by IHD.
“It is an excellent opportunity to know new residents, catch up with your friends, take a break from your studying and maybe show off your talents at sports, singing or dancing occasions.”
Explore Darwin!
Besides attending events, Kelvin shares his three favourite places to explore on a weekly basis.
“My top three places include;
1) Darwin Trailer Boat Club – it’s a wonderful place to enjoy the sunset and a ribeye steak with creamy mushroom sauce on the side.
2) The local Casuarina All Sports club or Kingpin – if you’re a fan of pools and bowling, with a glass of lemon lime bitter, you should not ignore these places for your weekend plans.
3) Fannie Bay oval court – where I play soccer with my mates every week.”
Another iconic tourist location Kelvin also suggests is the Mindil Beach Sunset Markets which is a great of culture, cuisine, and natural beauty.
Besides graduating from his studies, Kelvin has a few things he’d like to tick off his Territory bucket list. They include swimming with crocodiles at Crocosaurus Cove’s Cage of Death, visiting Uluru and driving a 4×4 in the middle of the desert.
Prior to coming to Darwin, Kelvin spent some time in Melbourne, this experience helped open his eyes. would like to continue to find out more about the Northern Territory’s rich culture.

“I spent most of my time in Melbourne when I moved to Australia, and it was fascinating for me to learn about and experience the diverse culinary arts and coffee culture there.”
“However, If I had a chance, I wish I could also learn about the cultures and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities while in Darwin, particularly their festivals, costumes, and rituals.”
