Brad is part of International House Darwin’s (IHD) Resident Leader (RL) team. He is originally from Vietnam and has been living at IHD since February 2024 and is currently studying for a Master of IT with a specialization in Cyber Security at CDU.
Life is short. Live it well.
Brad suggests that all residents embrace every moment because it’s the experiences we collect along the way that shape who we become. Living on campus has been an eye-opening journey for him as an international student, far from home yet surrounded by a supportive community that feels like family. Here, he has found friendships that cross borders, learned from diverse perspectives, and grown in ways he would never imagine.
The diversity of experiences and insights you gain is invaluable and makes every day unique and exciting.
Brad sees the RL role as a chance to connect with and support our community. It’s incredibly rewarding to be there for residents, helping them navigate their new life journey and ensuring they feel at home. Plus, it offers the opportunity to learn from people from all over the world. He gets to hear residents’ stories, understand different cultures, and gain new perspectives.
Interesting, Memorable, Supportive!
IHD is a fascinating place to live. It’s close to nature, with just a 5-minute walk to the beach—perfect for catching breathtaking sunsets. One of Brad’s most memorable moments was watching the fireworks on Territory Day, July 1st, right on the beach. It was absolutely mind-blowing. Moreover, at IHD, there are many events for residents to enjoy, from sports and yoga to cooking classes. IHD is doing its best to create a new home for all residents.
Northern territory has such unique landscapes that are simply breathtaking.
There are a few must-see places that Brad would recommend to residents, especially newcomers. First of first, you can’t miss Litchfield National Park. It’s a hidden gem with sparkling waterfalls, clear swimming holes and hiking trails. It’s a perfect spot for a refreshing dip and a relaxing day out in nature.
If you are into wildlife and hiking, you should visit Kakadu National Park! His favourite part is the ancient rock art, it is amazing to see how it was painted and how well it has been preserved.
