Philip Mayo, Coordinator Resident Services
Please join us in welcoming Philip Mayo to the International House Darwin (IHD) team as of June 2024.
As a lifelong resident of Darwin and the Northern Territory, Philip has a deep connection to this community. His heritage includes a blend of English, Welsh, and First Nations roots, including the Gurindji/Mudburra people and Torres Strait Islander communities from Badu and Mabuiag Islands.
Coming from a large family of twelve, Philip learned the importance of community early on. He has had diverse experiences in printing, mining, and construction. Prior to joining IHD, he served as an Aboriginal Liaison Officer at the Alan Walker Cancer Care Centre, where he helped First Nations people navigate the health system. Throughout his career, Philip has strived to incorporate the values of community into his work and has been dedicated to giving back to society.
We are very excited to have Philip working with us. He is passionate about helping residents navigate life at IHD and is eager to support them, whether they are adapting to a new environment, looking for ways to get involved, or just need someone to talk to. Philip believes that, together with all the staff and residents, they can create a vibrant community where everyone feels at home.
